In addition to regular activities to promote knowledge sharing, learning and collaboration in agri-food research and innovations, APAARI has been actively scoping for new projects and programmes since they provide new opportunities to enhance knowledge and capacity of APAARI members, ultimately benefiting small farmers and rural entrepreneurs they work with.

Listed below are projects and programmes that are ongoing and those that have been implemented over the last few years in collaboration with partners:

Ongoing Projects:

• Regional Collective Action on Inclusive Digital Transformation of Agriculture in Asia Pacific
• Asia-Pacific Consortium on Agricultural Biotechnology and Bioresources (APCoAB)
• Asia Pesticide Residue Mitigation through the Promotion of Biopesticides and Enhancement of Trade Opportunities
• Agroecology and Safe food System Transitions (ASSET) in Southeast Asia
• IR4-ASEAN pesticide residue detection under Support for activities for Minor Use Foundation (USDA)
• Phytosanitary capacity building in Bangladesh
• Developing capacities in agricultural innovation systems: scaling up the TAP Framework

Completed in 2021:

• Agricultural Science and Technology Indicators (ASTI)
• Conduct of a joint rapid appraisal for uptake of TAP approaches and tools by research and extension organizations in the Asia-Pacific region
  Research to Policy –ACIAR Alumni Research Support Facility (ACIAR)
• Public-private partnership for enhancing global seed supply chain and seed trade of Asia -Pacific post covid19 (Project Preparation Grant for STDF/WTO)
• Gene editing outreach project (FSII-CLA)
• Comparison of seed Laws in key Asia Pacific countries on key provisions of Draft Seed Bill in India (FSII-CLA)
• Global Plan of Action on Forgotten Foods and Community of Practice as part of the GFAR Collective Action on Forgotten Foods

Completed in 2020:

• Sectoral Review of Agriculture and Rural Statistics in Asia and the Pacific
• Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems (CDAIS)
• E-agriculture
• Testing of the guidelines for assessing agricultural innovation system in Thailand
