APAARI Participates in the Green to Green International Research Conference 2025, Sri Lanka

Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (APAARI) expresses its sincere appreciation to the Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (SLCARP) and its leadership—Prof. R. S. Dharmakeerthi, Chairman; Mr. Prabath Wimal Kumara, Secretary; and Dr. S. M. P. Chandra Padmini, Conference Coordinator and Deputy Director—for the kind invitation to participate in the Green to Green International Research Conference 2025, successfully held on 16 December 2025 in Sri Lanka..

The conference brought together a diverse group of national scientists, academics, policymakers, and development practitioners to explore pathways towards sustainable, circular, and climate-resilient agri-food systems. It served as a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and constructive dialogue on innovative research, policy integration, and practical solutions to emerging challenges in agriculture and environmental sustainability.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. D. P. Wickramasinghe, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigations, as the Chief Guest. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Darshani Kumaragamage from the University of Winnipeg, Canada, highlighting the importance of Sustainable soil Management.

Two distinguished guest speakers—Dr. Ravi Khetarpal, Executive Director of Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (APAARI) – shared regional perspectives on Policy Based Approaches for Sustainable Agriculture. Ms. Camelia Andriana, Project Management Specialist at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)—shared global perspectives on investing in circular Agri-Food systems: Governance pathways and High Value opportunities for a food system transformation in Sri Lanka.

Ms. Darshika P. Senadheera, Communication Officer of APAARI, also joined the conference to provide technical support and event coverage, and to strengthen collaboration. APAARI values the opportunity to contribute to this important dialogue and looks forward to continued collaboration with SLCARP in advancing resilient and sustainable agri-food systems in the Asia-Pacific region.
